It’s tough sometimes to do the right thing. knowing also that ‘the right thing’ is subjective. But the only constant I have know is the word of God, and the only way to do the right thing is by going by and doing what it says.
“For the word of the Lord is right; and all His works are done in truth. “- Psalm 33:4.
“Every word of God is pure: He is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him. Add thou not unto His words, lest He reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.” – Proverbs 30: 5-6.
In following the truth, don’t expect it to be all rosy, don’t expect too much encouragement, because most of the time, you won’t get it.
You would even expect to get some encouragement from people you look up to, but I’m pretty sure you have had your fair share of unexpected disappointments from people you probably thought highly of.
I know I have, and it has taught me never to allow my faith hinge on another human, else I would lose it and I would miss God.
The thought of that happening makes me cringe.
The thing is, people sometimes, out of their sincere love for you may hurt your faith unintentionally, so do not take it personal nor should you judge them. Rather, use their seeming rejection and judgement of you as a positive fuel for your faith.
Ask yourself these questions;
- What is the foundation of your faith? is it truly the undiluted word of God?
- Are you still in the faith or have you backslided?
- Are you still walking in the precepts of the Lord?
- Are you still following His commands in Joshua 1:8?
- Can you honestly link your belief and what you are hoping for to the word of God or does it contradict it?
- What has God impressed in your heart and does it align with your purpose? is it consistent with what He has been telling you since you knew the Lord?
- Can you honestly say that the witness in your spirit is from the Holy spirit? remember the word of God says in 1 John 4: 1- “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”
- So have you honestly allowed your convictions to be tested?
If you answers to these honest self examinations have been ‘Yes’ then you can be sure you are being led by the spirit and not the flesh.
Because sometimes we are simply honestly wrong as well, so keep checking with the word(s) you have received and what the word of God says about it. The word of God is the only true standard
If you find that you have honestly missed it, never be proud to admit your wrong, and when you do admit it, learn from it and move on, because you have actually grown a step taller in faith and humility. For the Lord grants grace to the humble and resists the proud.
But if you are convinced in your spirit that you are doing the right thing in accordance to His will for you, then I urge you to fight and do not give up.
You fight not with your fist, but by holding on to your faith.
The word of God says in 1 Timothy 6: 12 that we should fight the good fight of faith.
Yes, it is a fight, to have faith, but it is a good one! because if you are not fighting the good fight, you are fighting the bad fight, and that is the fight against good.
You are either fighting with good or fighting against good, and this is evil.
Believe it or not, we are at war, each one of us has to choose whether to fight the good fight or lose. There is no middle ground.
“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In this world ye shall have many tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” – John 16: 33
Our Lord Jesus Christ did not say this to scare us, but He was only telling us the reality of the fall of Adam and the consequences of what his action has caused this world.
He stated this fact to actually open our eyes to the way out, the only way we can win is if we are on His side, then our victory is sure. both here and in heaven when we leave this world.
He didn’t give you those dreams and hopes just to frustrate you, no. He gave you these good desires and aspirations for you to indeed fulfill them.
So keep holding on, you are almost there, the lord’s on your side.
My prayer for you today, is that your strength will be renewed in the inner man every day, more grace be released to you for every moment as you keep on fighting the good fight of faith. I pray that in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, you will indeed reach your goal, Amen.
